Shepherd Only Does Bad Good.

Freddy Shepherd

Once again Freddy Shepherd and his board of directors have failed to deliver; once again we have an end of season which has delivered nothing.

Where does the blame lie?

The finger must be pointed at the manager, the manager has had two transfer windows and he’s failed on both occasions, he’s failed to strengthen the squad.  Glenn Roeder has repeatedly told us what he was looking for in a player, he wanted to reduce the average age of the squad while at the same time bringing in players who were hungry, again he’s failed.

Roeder complained about the depth of the squad, he’s got around this by reducing our squad numbers, more failure.

During both windows we’ve been informed through Roeder’s mate at the Chronicle that we would get x number of players in, both windows have been ridden with failure on this point.

Roeder is a serial failure as a manager, employed by a serial failure of a chairman, Shepherd; Shepherd is the man ultimately responsible for the state of the club today.

Shepherd is guilty of leading this club backwards, he’s guilty of appointing managers who have taken the club backwards, for that he should hang his head in shame.  This week we’ve been informed by him (Shepherd) that "It's been a tough year and, under the circumstances, I wouldn't call it a failure."  I can just picture Shepherd in Baghdad, tanks rolling behind him while he informs us that the Americans are nowhere near the city, Shepherd is a fool, and an incompetent one at that.

Shepherd, you sacked the only manager who has taken the club forwards while you have been chairman, you sacked him because you thought that he was going to get us relegated after finishing 5th in the league.  5th wasn’t good enough for Sir Bobby yet the rubbish that you’ve been responsible for ever since seems to be acceptable.

After sacking Souness because two of our players collided during a game, he wasn’t sacked for the sub-standard football, he wasn’t sacked because he had taken the club 9 places down the league table, he wasn’t sacked because he fell out with players while putting his ego before the good of the club, he wasn’t sacked because of the shocking headlines that he brought to the club, no, he was sacked because of players running into each other, work that one out if you can.

Shepherd bigged up the club when looking to replace Souness, he told us that we were one of the top clubs in the world and he told us about people who had applied for the managers job, he did this without actually naming these people but at least we could be confident that we would have a manager who was better than the last one.  Well it wasn’t or shouldn’t have been too difficult getting better than Souness, even for a chairman as incompetent as Shepherd.  Actions speak louder than words, the actions of Shepherd in appointing a serial failure like Roeder goes beyond comprehension for me and most other fans.

This club will not reach the heights of the recent past while this shockingly poor chairman is steering the sinking ship that is called Newcastle United.  If he was in any other business he’d have been out of the door years ago, to think that he is considering buying the club (allegedly) should be enough to send shudders down the spine of all Newcastle fans.

The best thing that can happen to the club is for people to stop spending with the club, if you normally purchase food and drink before the match, buy it before you go in, hit Shepherd in the pocket, it’s the only thing that will get through to him.  If Newcastle United was Tesco or Asda and they were giving you a poor service you would go elsewhere, most people find this hard to do regarding football so the only way to protest and get a message across is to avoid giving the club your money.

Shepherd takes fan loyalty for granted, he thinks that his sub-standard performance is acceptable, the managers or players are usually the scapegoat.  Shepherd appoints the managers who appoint the players; he is ultimately the man responsible for everything which happens, good or bad.  If the players fail it’s his failure, if the manager fails that’s also his failure.

Failure is something we’re good at, it’s all we’re good at, we’ll I suppose the club has done a good job at fleecing the fans on a regular basis without actually delivering anything.

Shepherd needs to know what people are thinking and feeling, he’s not fit to run the football club, I wouldn’t allow him to run a pub team, never mind a Premiership club.

The performance of the football club in general reflects on the leadership that comes from Shepherd, that leadership has taken the club from being profitable to one carrying massive levels of debt, levels of debt which is probably the reason that two possible buyers have looked at the books and walked away, what did they see that we don't know about?

On the field we have arguably a smaller less valuable squad, on the field we are a poor reflection of what we were 10 years ago, the main change is that 10 years ago we had a chairman who had vision, a man who wanted to get somewhere and had the drive to move the club forwards, Shepherd just isn't in the same league, he's a dour man who wouldn't be given a second glance if it wasn't for Newcastle United. The only time he makes headlines is when he opens his mouth and produces verbal diarrhoea or gets cought with his pants down in a Spanish brothel, he never makes headlines because of what he does at Shepherd Offshore.

He's made enough money from us, he should sell up and go, he'll only do this if and when he's put under pressure, he'll only do it once it becomes too difficuilt for him to take his seat in the directors box. Give him stick and try to get him out, we must all do our bit for the sake of Newcastle United. Do nothing and you accept mediocrity, you accept that the money you put into the club will go towards the Shepherd pension fund, nobody should accept that.

Shepherd Out, now.
