Freddy Shepherd Is History
It's ten seasons under the Chairmanship of Freddy Shepherd, what happened in this time? Let's have a look.
At last, Shepherd Has Gone
We are delighted to be able to announce that we can safely say that we've seen the last of Shepherd, the spectre of this man will no longer be seen walking through the corridors of power within St James' Park.
Shepherd took over what was at the time, the 2nd best team in the Premiership and a club which was supposedly making money.
By the time he had left, either sacked or resigned, the club had just finished the season lying in 13th position in the league and around £80 million pound in debt, since reported to be £100 million. The legacy left by the departed Chairman was more like the business of a close relative; the club resembled a scrap-yard. We can only be grateful that he's gone at all and also that he was left such a legacy by Sir John when he relinquished power. If he had of taken over a failing club then the possible outcome is frightening, now however, it's time to move on.
Shepherd once said: "You should only say good things when somebody leaves. Robert has gone - good." We would just like to echo those sentiments, Shepherd has gone - Good.
We will do a few more small updates here, we hope to highlight the legacy which Shepherd left Mike Ashley and Chris Mort, this last update to the Shepherd side of the site will be his epitaph, it will not make good reading but it will show once and for all why he had to go and why we started this site.
It would appear that Shepherd is no longer welcome at St James' Park, Shepherd Offshore no longer have access to the box they've held for so long, it would appear money can't buy everything. We just hope that we've helped to keep him out of St James' by highlighting some of the things which have happened under his stewardship, if he has been banned because of something which we have mentioned then that is superb, it has been mentioned that the Warehouse deal we've wrote about on here had something to do with it, let's hope so.
